About the days between dates
The count is of whole calendar days, so the clock time of either date makes no difference: 23:59 on one day to 00:01 on the next is one day apart, not zero.
Working days exclude Saturdays and Sundays only. Public holidays vary by country and by year and are not deducted, so treat the figure as a maximum rather than a payroll number.
Frequently asked questions
- Is anything I enter sent anywhere?
- No. Every calculation runs inside your browser. Nothing you type - a date of birth, a salary, a list of numbers - is uploaded, stored or logged, and the page keeps working with the network disconnected.
- Does it include the end date?
- No. The count is the number of days from the first date to the second, so 1 January to 2 January is one day. If you are counting days of a holiday rather than the gap between them, add one.
- Are public holidays excluded from working days?
- No, only weekends. Holidays differ by country, region and year, and quietly guessing which apply to you would be worse than leaving them in.
- Does the order of the dates matter?
- No. The distance is reported either way, with a note when the second date is the earlier one.
